The Roane County Sheriff’s Office seeks highly motivated individuals to serve as Patrol Deputies. This position is responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the security of Roane County residents. Deputies will conduct patrols, investigate crimes, and assist in community policing efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity
Serve civil legal documents as required by state law and court orders
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
Enforce local, state, and federal laws
Conduct traffic stops and issue citations as needed
Investigate crimes, collect evidence, and prepare reports
Make arrests and transport detainees
Testify in court as required
Assist the public and engage in community policing initiatives
Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation
Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies when necessary

Minimum Qualifications:

Age: 21 years or older
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen
Education: High school diploma or GED
Certification: Must possess a Tennessee POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Certification
Background: Must pass an extensive background investigation
Physical Fitness: Must meet department fitness and agility standards
Driver’s License: Valid Tennessee driver’s license
Experience: Prior law enforcement or military experience preferred but not required

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or related fields
